CE FOREIGN MINISTERS APPROVED CE ACTIVITY TO MAINTAIN DEMOCRACY AND STABILITY IN SOUTH CAUCASUS
The participants of the 111-th session of the Committee of Foreign Ministers of the Council of Europe member states have expressed support to CE activities directed at maintaining stability and democracy in the South Caucasus. According to the information received by "Arminfo" agency from the CE, this statement was made by the ministers on the basis of the report delivered by the Committee chairman Lidi Polfier upon the completion of July visits to Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. Within that context the Committee members specially emphasized the dialogue between Russia and Georgia, as well as the fulfillment of obligations to the CE undertaken by Armenia and Azerbaijan when being admitted into the organization. In the course of the session the foreign ministers and their deputies noted the initiatives on holding various cultural and religious measures, including Armenia's initiative to hold a forum in Yerevan in 2003, as well as Azerbaijan's initiative to open Europe-Caucasus-Asia "cultural corridor" aiming at activation of cooperation between the countries of the region.
