Karabakh Deputy PM: Azeris meant to seize Madagis, Sarsang Reservoirs

PanARMENIAN.Net - In the course of hostilities in the Karabakh conflict zone, Azerbaijan sought to seize strategically important positions through an attack on the Madagis and Sarsang Reservoirs north of Artsakh; an important road of Jabrail-Fizuli leading to Martuni was on Azeris’ southbound agenda, Karabakh’s Deputy Prime Minister said.

As Yerkir.am quoted the ex-Defense Minister of Armenia Artur Aghabekyan as saying, Azeris seized several frontline posts, but, soon enough, were pushed out. The official further expressed his approval of the commandment’s decision to launch a counterattack.

According to Aghabekyan, the rival expected the Armenian size to leave the Stepenakert direction unprotected, decentralizing its forces between the north and south. So disallowing the movement of the reserve, which would shift the burden of handling the situation on the northern and southern units, was a correct step. On April 3-4, the rival attempted to start an offense in the direction of the main attack, with our artillery, however, thwarting the attempt, the official concluded.
