“Who Killed Kurt Cobain?” graphic novel to be released this year

PanARMENIAN.Net - IDW Publishing are set to publish a graphic novel entitled Who Killed Kurt Cobain? - though they insist it’s a “work of fiction”, Gigwise reports.

The Nirvana frontman committed suicide back in 1994 at the age of 27 (in fact, a few weeks ago was the 20th anniversary of his death). Since then, there have been consistent conspiracy theories that he was, in fact, murdered. Many books and films have pondered this theory, including the controversial 2015 film Soaked In Bleach.

It’s a smart move on the part of comic book publishing company IDW, then, to give the go ahead to Who Killed Kurt Cobain? - created by Nicolas Otero. According to a press release, though, it’s not going to be filled with accusations of murder, Gigwise said.

"Based on the French novel, Le Roman de Boddah by Heloise Guay de Bellissen,” the press release explains, "this adaptation – a work of fiction – recounts real-life events from Cobain’s life, as narrated by his childhood imaginary friend, Boddah.”

“Nirvana blew the world open my freshman year of high school and were gone before graduation,” says Otero of his graphic novel, with editor, Justin Eisinger adding, “I didn’t know about Boddah. I’d never really thought about this mythical life — Kurt’s — from any perspective other than MTV-spawned voyeur.”

Who Killed Kurt Cobain? comes out in October.
