Armenia President, UN chief talk Karabakh in phone call

PanARMENIAN.Net - President Serzh Sargsyan on Saturday, April 23 held a phone conversation with the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the latter's initiative.

During the conversation, the UN chief expressed regret over the postponement of his visit to Yerevan due to unforeseen circumstances.

Stressing the importance of the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Ban expressed his firm support to the OSCE Minsk Group format.

Sargsyan said, in turn, that the Armenian society has long been looking forward to the Secretary-General's visit, expressing hope that Ban will visit the country on mutually agreed dates.

Also, the top UN official had phone talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and addressed the peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict.

Ban’s visit to Armenia was postponed.

He was set to arrive in the country on April 25 as part of his official visit to the South Caucasus region.
