Turkish historians going to study Armenian

PanARMENIAN.Net - Yusuf Halacoglu, the President the Turkish Historical Society (TTK), informed that Turkish historians will study the Armenian language to examine the documents kept in foreign archives. Presently, when Armenian and European historians carry out investigations of Turkey's archives, Turkish historians are deprived of the possibility to study historical documents in the Armenian language, he said. "There is one Turkish scientist who knows Armenian. It's Birsan Garaca, a tutor at the Istanbul University. As soon as the Turkish parliament introduces amendments in the law allowing invitation of foreign specialists, Armenian language teachers will be engaged from Azerbaijan. Upon taking a course Turkish historians will be sent aboard to examine Armenian documents," he said, reports APA.
