Ryan Gosling, Russell Crowe “The Nice Guys” unveils new promo

PanARMENIAN.Net - “The Nice Guys” has been getting strong reviews from Cannes this week, but it is still facing heavy competition as it opens in theaters Friday, May 20, according to TheWrap.

“Neighbors 2” and “The Angry Birds Movie” are both opening this week, and “Captain America: Civil War” is still going strong. Even with Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe on the marquee, how is this quirky little buddy comedy going to grab everyone’s attention?

That’s what producer Joel Silver wants to know in this hilarious promo for “The Nice Guys.”

In the video, Silver invades a press junket his two stars are doing and demands that they come up with ideas to keep them from falling behind Marvel and Seth Rogen.

“‘Angry Birds’ is s–ting all over us … We’re crawling through broken glass here!” he exclaims. “I’ve got two schmucks! You won an Oscar, what, 50 years ago?!” he shouts at Crowe, who actually woman Academy Award in 2000 for “Gladiator.”

Critics don’t seem to agree that Gosling and Crowe are schmucks. In his review of “The Nice Guys,” TheWrap’s Alonso Duralde called the pair “an extra-violent, extra-id-driven Abbott and Costello or Laurel and Hardy, mixing wild verbal interplay with painfully hilarious physicality.”

It also currently has a 96 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to 67 percent for “Neighbors 2” and 58 percent for “The Angry Birds Movie.” Maybe, as Gosling suggests in the video, it’s enough just to make a good movie.
