“Imitation Game” director to helm time travel film “Shining Girls”June 4, 2016 - 11:13 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - His upcoming film “Passengers” revolves around space travel so it’s only fitting that director Morten Tyldum might want to tackle time travel on a future film, Variety reports. Sources tell Variety that Tyldum is in talks to direct an adaptation of Lauren Beukes’ novel “The Shining Girls” for MRC. MRC will develop and finance with Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way producing. DiCaprio will be joined by his partner Jennifer Davisson Killoran as producer. The book revolves around a serial killer in 1930s Chicago who stumbles upon a time traveling device. Appian has held the rights to the book for some time and brought it to MRC several years ago. Danny Boyle was attached to write the pic at one point, but eventually parted ways. Tyldum is currently in post-production on Sony’s sci-fi pic “Passengers,” starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt. He recently signed on to direct “The Last Days of Night,” which chronicles the rivalry between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse after Edison landed the patent for the first electrical current. Graham Moore, who also wrote Tyldum’s “The Imitation Game,” penned the spec, which was recently acquired by Black Bear Pictures in a heated bidding war.
