Zach Galifianakis’ “Masterminds” gets brand new trailer, 4 still

PanARMENIAN.Net - A new trailer for the Relativity comedy “Masterminds” hit on Thursday, July 28, bringing some welcome signs of life to the company’s slate, The Wrap reports.

Trailers are business as usual for any forthcoming release (in this case a September 30 wide rollout), but for Relativity it means the wheels are finally turning at the troubled film company.

The indie studio, run by CEO and Chairman Ryan Kavanaugh and President Dana Brunetti, formally emerged from Chapter 11 in April but spent most of the past four months treading water with slate financing and a contentious court battle with streaming partner Netflix.

That the Zach Galifianakis-Kristen Wiig comedy has a brand new trailer along with four unreleased marketing stills is encouraging that audiences will finally see the heist film in theaters this fall — more than a year after its initial August 14, 2015 release date.

Jared Hess directed the film written by Emily Spivey, Jody Hill, Danny McBride, Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer. Lorne Michaels and John Goldwyn served as producers, with Kevin J. Messick, Danny McBride, Jody Hill, Erin David, Kavanaugh and Tucker Tooley executive producing.

Inspired by true events, the action-comedy follows David (Galifianakis), a disgruntled armored car driver who teams up with a co-worker (Wiig) and a group of inexperienced criminals to steal nearly $20 million from a bank vault.

Before “Masterminds,” Relativity is slated to release Kate Bosworth‘s “Before I Wake” on September 9 — even though no trailer has been released yet.

Later in the fall, on Nov. 18, comes Kate Beckinsale‘s “The Disappointments Room” followed by the Dec. 2 release of Halle Berry‘s “Kidnap.”
