Google trying to stop you using passwords

PanARMENIAN.Net - Google is working on a new open source system that will stop you getting the jitters every time you forget your passwords, Digital Spy reports.

The Open YOLO (you only login once) project has been announced in partnership with Dashlane and other password managers for Android users.

Aiming to provide a secure link between third-party apps and password managers, the idea would allow users to log in to all their apps without having to retype usernames and passwords.

"To stay one-step ahead of the market demand, Google and Dashlane are helping create a seamless, universally-acceptable Android app authentication solution to increase your online security," said Dashlane community manager Malaika Nicholas.

Although there are already many password managers that exist to work with a set number of apps, they have been rather clunky and limited in the scope of implementation.

Open YOLO looks like it will make the process of automatically linking between logins for apps and passwords managers much easier.

"In the future, we see this open API going beyond just Android devices, and becoming universally-implemented by apps and password managers across every platform and operating system," Dashlane added.

It comes amid fears of widespread hackings, such as Twitter reportedly locking millions of accounts after 32m passwords were apparently stolen earlier this year, Digital Spy said.
