The Maccabees split up after 14 years as a band

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Maccabees have announced that they have split up after 14 years as a band, Gigwise said.

The band, who released their fourth (and now final) album, Marks To Prove It, last year, announced the news via a statement on Twitter, saying they are “very proud to be able to go out on our own terms.”

They admitted, “The decision has obviously been an incredibly difficult one, given that The Maccabees has been such a huge part of our lives until now."

The Maccabees, who are helmed by lead singer Orlando Weeks, released their debut single, ‘X-Ray’, back in 2005. They were quickly signed to a major label, and released their debut album, Colour It In, in 2007.

Last year, the band achieved their first UK No.1 album in the form of Marks To Prove It.

The Maccabees headlined Latitude Festival last month, and have promised some "farewell celebration shows" in the near future.
