Apple confirms iOS 10 release date

PanARMENIAN.Net - Apple has just confirmed the iOS 10 release date, with the iPhone-revolutionising update set to roll out in just a matter of days, Digital Spy said.

Despite the iPhone 7 - which will run iOS 10 direct from the box - not hitting retailers' shelves until next Friday, September 16, the iOS 10 update will be available as a free download for existing iPhone and iPad owners starting next Tuesday, September 13.

The biggest iOS update in a number of years, iOS 10 will bring everything from a redesigned Control Panel to the ability to flag up potential nuisance calls before you answer.

Those aren't the sexy features though. They come in the form of new Siri skills, an improved Photos app that will make highlights videos for you, and a Messages overhaul that involves everything from the ability to send handwritten notes and change the size of text bubbles, to the option to drop in stickers and Live Sketches, Digital Spy said.

Perhaps the creepiest, coolest iOS 10 feature, however, is one of the Photos-based updates. Starting next week, your phone will learn who is in your photos without you having to tell it. You'll then be able to search your images for pictures of your mate John and have all the shots of his gurning mug magically and instantly appear, Digital Spy said.

Although the iOS 10 update won't cost you a penny, there are a couple of stipulations. Namely, you'll need an iPhone 5 or newer - yes, that includes last year's iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus - an iPad 2 or newer, including any iPad mini or iPad Pro release, or a fifth or sixth-generation iPod Touch, Digital Spy said.
