EU welcomes Turkey's decision to hold early parliamentarian elections
The European Union welcomed the intention of Turkey's Justice and Development ruling party to hold early parliamentarian elections in June thus trying to overcome the increasing political crises in the country. At the same time the European Commission warned Turkey that his chances for EU membership will decrease if the state does not guarantee civil freedoms in the country. Last week the EU called on Turkish high military commanders to refrain from interfering into the policy. The Turkish army made it clear that it is not going to agree with Abdullah Gul's election as the 11th President of the country. Currently Gul occupies the post of Foreign Minister, he represents the ruling Justice and Development Party, BBC Russian service reports.
