RA MFA: It is not the first time when Aliev tries to promulgate content of talks on Karabakh
It is not the first time when President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev tries to promulgate the content of talks over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Armenian MFA Acting Press Officer Vladimir Karapetyan stated commenting on I. Aliev's statement that "Armenia has agreed on step-by-step variant of conflict settlement". "I can only say that this time too no new "openings " were made. Like before, I can confirm our approach to the talks, which is based on the self-determination of Nagorno Karabakh. Other issues, which are on the table of talks and are being discussed, will proceed from recognizing the main principle. As to Azeri President's militant statements and threats of forceful solution to the Karabakh conflict, their frequent repetition is evidence of disdain towards international commitments, as well as weakness and deep distrust," Vladimir Karapetyan stated, the RA MFA Press Office reports.
Ilham Aliev stated that, "there exists a common agreement on returning the 7 occupied regions of Azerbaijan by step-by-step approach, after which displaced Azeri population will unconditionally return to their native places." At the same time he said that both Armenia and the international mediators accepted these offers. Aliev stated the status of Nagorno Karabakh "can be discussed only in the framework of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. Alongside Azerbaijan does not oppose the idea of placing peacekeepers on this territory, which actually is Armenia's initiative."
