Apple’s Tim Cook favors augmented reality over virtual reality

PanARMENIAN.Net - Just a few days after Apple's biggest announcement of the year, CEO Tim Cook is doing the media rounds, Digital Spy said.

He not only revealed that his wild dancing can't dislodge the new AirPods, but also got into the augmented reality vs. virtual reality debate.

Cook said in the interview with ABC News: "There's virtual reality and there's augmented reality - both of these are incredibly interesting. But my own view is that augmented reality is the larger of the two, probably by far, because this gives the capability for both of us to sit and be very present talking to each other, but also have other things visually for both of us to see.

"Maybe it's something we're talking about, maybe it's someone else here that is not here, present, but could be made to appear to be present with us. So there's a lot of really cool things there."

Cook has been dropping hints about the company's interest in both platforms for some time. In January, the Financial Times also reported that Apple has a huge team of employees working to develop applications of the two technologies, including headsets.

Until Apple potentially enters the market, we'll just have to play Pokemon Go on our iPhones and Apple Watches, Digital Spy said.
