"Ghost in the Shell" teasers feature Scarlett Johansson (video)

PanARMENIAN.Net - Paramount Pictures dropped a series of teaser trailers for "Ghost in the Shell" during the Wednesday night, September 21 broadcast of "Mr. Robot" season finale. The first footage of the live-action adaptation of the popular Japanese manga series offers a close look at Scarlett Johansson as the lead character, the Major, AceShowbiz said.

The teasers don't reveal a lot about the plot, but each of the around-13-second videos shows mysterious and interesting facet of the upcoming movie. The Major can be seen in one of the videos stumbling across something dangerous. Another video offers a glimpse of Takeshi Kitano's Daisuke Aramaki coolly firing a gun.

Based on Masmune Shirow's manga series, "Ghost in the Shell" follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic's advancements in cyber technology.

Directed by Rupert Sanders ("Snow White and the Huntsman") from a script written by "Straight Outta Compton" scribe Jonathan Herman, the upcoming action thriller also stars Sam Riley, Juliette Binoche, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbaek, Rila Fukushima and Michael Wincott. "Ghost in the Shell" is coming to U.S. theaters on March 31, 2017.
