Synergetic picks up Swiss drama “Amateur Teens”September 24, 2016 - 17:13 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Synergetic Distribution has picked up North American rights to Swiss coming-of-age drama “Amateur Teens”, while Australian rights have gone to Accent Film Entertainment, according to Variety. The movie, co-written by Niklaus Hilber and Patrick Tonz and produced by Valentin Greutert through his A Film Company, tells the story of a group of young Zurich teens experimenting with sex and social media. The North American deal was negotiated by sales company Film Republic’s Xavier Henry-Rashid and Synergetic’s Anatol Chavez. “‘Amateur Teens’ is a relevant, smart portrayal of contemporary youth which we feel will resonate well locally,” said Chavez. Synergetic is currently planning to release the film in the first quarter of 2017. “Amateur Teens” received its world premiere at the Zurich Film Festival in 2015, winning the fest’s audience award. It recently played at the Locarno Film Festival in August. The Australian deal for “Amateur Teens” was negotiated between Henry-Rashid and Accent’s George Papadopoulos. Film Republic has also secured French distribution for another Swiss title, Claudia Lorenz’s “What’s Between Us,” which has been acquired by Optimale for France. Lorenz’s drama, co-written with Rolando Colla, tells the story of a woman coming to terms with the discovery that her husband is gay after 18 years of marriage.
