Tragicomedy “Glory,” directed by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov, won for Best Narrative Feature and “Eagle Huntress” — Otto Bell’s film about a young, female, Kazakh eagle hunter — nabbed Best Documentary Feature. Short film winners included narrative “The Silence,” directed by Ali Asgari and Farnoosh Samadi, and documentary “Irregulars” directed by Fabio Palmieri. “HIFF continues to focus on showcasing an entertaining, diverse and provocative slate of films each year,” said David Nugent, HIFF Artistic Director. Honorable mentions at the 24th annual festival, which ran Oct. 6-10, went to “Divines” directed by Houda Benyamina (Narrative Feature) and “Those Who Jump” directed by Estephan Wagner, Moritz Siebert and Abou Bakar Sidibé (Documentary Feature). As previously announced, the festival’s Victor Rabinowitz & Joanne Grant Award for Social Justice went to “Loving,” while the creative impact in acting trophy went to Aaron Eckhart and the career achievement prize went to Edward Norton.
