PanARMENIAN.Net - Netflix has picked up English-language territory rights to Cold War thriller “The Same Sky”, which world premieres at Mipcom on Monday, October 17, according to Variety.

The six-hour series, directed by Oscar-nominated Oliver Hirschbiegel, portrays the fate of two families on either side of the Berlin Wall. The action revolves around the relationship between an East German “Romeo” agent – a spy who uses seduction as a way to unearth secrets — and his female target in the West.

Sales agent Beta Film also has sold the series to RAI (Italy), streaming platform SFR (France), France 3 (France), VRT (Belgium), RUV (Iceland), SVT (Sweden), DR (Denmark), NRK (Norway) and YLE (Finland).

“The Same Sky,” which stars “The Bridge’s” Sofia Helin and “Generation War’s” Tom Schilling, is produced by UFA Fiction in co-production with Beta Film for ZDF and Czech TV in association with Rainmark Films. The screenplay is by British author Paula Milne.

Hirschbiegel was Oscar-nominated for his film about the death of Adolf Hitler, “Downfall.”
