Record 27 films submitted for animated feature Oscar race

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced a record 27 animated features have been submitted for consideration in this year’s Oscar race, Variety said.

The submissions are:

“The Angry Birds Movie”, “April and the Extraordinary World”, “Bilal”, “Finding Dory”, “Ice Age: Collision Course”, “Kingsglaive Final Fantasy XV”, “Kubo and the Two Strings”, “Kung Fu Panda 3”, “The Little Prince”, “Long Way North”, “Miss Hokusai”, “Moana”, “Monkey King: Hero Is Back”, “Mune”, “Mustafa & the Magician”, “My Life as a Zucchini”, “Phantom Boy”, “The Red Turtle”, “Sausage Party”, “The Secret Life of Pets”, “Sing”, “Snowtime!”, “Storks”, “Trolls”, “25 April”, “Your Name.”, “Zootopia”

Many of the films have not yet completed their required Los Angeles qualifying run. All submissions must fulfill that requirement and comply with other qualifying rules before they can advance in voting.

In order for there to be a full slate of five nominees, 16 or more features must meet all eligibility criteria. Depending on the ultimate number of eligible contenders, anywhere from two to five films may be nominated.

Nominees will be announced alongside all other Oscar nominees on Jan. 24, 2017.
