Forest Whitaker joins Johnny Depp in Tupac murder movie “Labyrinth”

PanARMENIAN.Net - Forest Whitaker is eyed for "LAbyrinth", which will chronicle the unsolved murders of rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G.. As AceShowbiz reports citing Deadline, the Oscar-winning actor is currently in negotiations to co-star in the upcoming crime thriller adapted from Randall Sullivan's 2002 non-fiction novel.

Whitaker is expected to share screen with Johnny Depp, who is set to portray Russel Poole, a disgraced L.A.P.D. detective unable to solve his biggest case. The 55-year-old actor will take the role of a journalist who teams up with the cop to hunt for the truth, before the pair threaten to crack the foundation of the L.A.P.D. while fighting for their own redemption.

"LAbyrinth" will be directed by Brad Furman from a screenplay that's currently written by Christian Contreras. The movie will be produced by Miriam Segal through her Good Films, with Miramax partnering and co-financing for the U.S. distribution with Open Road Films. The international sales will be handled by Good Universe.

Whitaker stars alongside Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner in the recently-released "Arrival". He can next be seen in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" which opens in U.S. theaters on December 17. Whitaker has also been added to the cast of Marvel's "Black Panther" to be released on February 16, 2018.
