Studiocanal acquires Fenar Ahmad’s “Darkland”November 24, 2016 - 14:29 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - After unveiling a promo at the AFM, TrustNordisk has pre-sold Fenar Ahmad’s sophomore film ‘Darkland’ to two major distributors: Studiocanal in the U.K. and Gaga in Japan. TrustNordisk also pre-sold the film to China (DD Dream) and Turkey (Euromedia) during AFM. Other deals are in negotiations. “Darkland” stars Dar Salim (“Exodus,” “Game of Thrones”) as Zaid, a successful surgeon who has it all and sets off to avenge the murder of his brother and bring down all the criminal gangs in Copenhagen. But Zaid’s persistent battle results in serious consequences for himself and his family, including his pregnant girlfriend. Salim stars opposite Stine Fischer Christensen (“After the Wedding”), Roland Møller (“Land of Mine”), and Dulfi Al-Jabouri (“A War”). “Darkland” is produced by Jacob Jarek for Profile Pictures, the outfit behind Jens Dahl’s upcoming thriller “3 Things” and Ali Abbasi’s “Shelley.” The movie is backed by the Danish Film Institute, DR, and Scanbox Entertainment. Thor Sigurjonsson, Ditte Milsted, and Caroline Schlüter Bingestam exec produced. Scanbox Entertainment will distribute the movie across the Nordics.
