New Prince doc featuring Mick Jagger, Lenny Kravitz coming in 2017

PanARMENIAN.Net - A Prince documentary charting the musician’s early years and rise to super-stardom is coming out next year, NME said.

Prince: R U Listening? will feature interviews from friends, family and collaborators like Shelia E as well as reflections from Mick Jagger, Billy Idol, Bono, Lenny Kravitz, according to Screen Daily.

Former bandmates including Dez Dickerson, who toured with Prince during the 80s, and André Cymone, who played bass in Prince’s teenage band Grand Central, also offer their personal recollections of working with the star in the doc.

Producer Michael Kirk, best known for writing, producing and directing the US docuseries Frontline, will direct Prince: R U Listening?.

The documentary’s existence came to light after a German distributer announced that it has secured the rights to the film for German-speaking countries. Details of a UK and US release are yet to be confirmed.

In other news, Prince‘s Paisley Park estate is set to host a celebration of the late artist’s life during a three-day event next year.

The festival will be held from April 20-23, with the bands already booked to perform including The Revolution, Morris Day and The Time, and members of the New Power Generation and 3RDEYEGIRL.

Last week, a previously unheard Prince song, ‘Moonbeam Levels’, was released as part of a new compilation album ‘Prince 4ever’.
