Robert De Niro’s “War With Grandpa” release date setDecember 3, 2016 - 11:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - TWC-Dimension has set an Oct. 21, 2017, release date for the Robert De Niro comedy “The War With Grandpa”, Variety reports. Dimension had originally planned to open the film six months earlier, but director Tim Hill revealed last month during a presentation at the American Film Market that he would start shooting the movie in February in Toronto. “The War with Grandpa” follows a boy who’s forced to move out of his room when his recently widowed grandfather moves in. With the help of his friends, the boy devises outrageous pranks to make his grandfather surrender the room, but he turns out to be tougher than expected and all-out war ensues. Christopher Walken and Eugene Levy have come on board to play the friends of De Niro’s character. “The War with Grandpa” is based on the 1984 children’s book by Robert Kimmel Smith. Phillip Glasser, Marvin Peart, and Rosa Morris Peart are producing, with Jane Rosenthal and Barry Welsh exec producing. Lisa Addario, Tom Astle, and Matt Ember wrote the screenplay. TWC has also set an Aug. 25 wide release date for the horror movie “Polaroid” from director Lars Klevberg and producer Roy Lee. “Polaroid” is based on Klevberg’s short film about a Polaroid camera that murders those who come in contact with it. Lee, who helped develop “The Ring” and “The Grudge” franchises, said at the presentation that “Polaroid” will be a franchise starter.
