Netflix announces surprise new series “The OA” (video) December 13, 2016 - 11:46 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - In an unusual move, Netflix announces its new series "The OA" just four days before its release. The eight-episode mystery thriller co-created by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij is set to premiere on the streaming service Friday, December 16, AceShowbiz said. A trailer for the new series has also been debuted, but it doesn't share a lot about the plotline. It sees a missing blind woman, Prairie Johnson (Marling), who returns home after seven years with her sight restored. "She's our daughter - but she's never seen us before. Seven years ago, when she went missing, she was blind," says her father. Refusing to talk to the FBI or her parents, she instead shares her story with a group of teenagers and a high-school algebra teacher, all of whom she recruits for a larger mission. "I didn't disappear," Prairie says, "I was present for all of it," as she is seen being part of some kind of experiment. Directed by Batmanglij, "The OA" is executive produced by Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Sarah Esberg of Plan B Entertainment along with Marling, Batmanglij and Anonymous Content's Michael Sugar. Scott Wilson stars as Prairie's adopted father, with Jason Isaacs, Will Brill, Emory Cohen, Patrick Gibson, Brendan Meyer and Brandon Perea also joining the cast.
