Owner of "Kavkaz"-Poti" ferry is going to sell 49% of its stocks to Armenian companies

PanARMENIAN.Net - Owner of SMAT ferry of the "Kavkaz"-Poti crossing, Chairman of "Rezerv Capital Corporation" Hakim Matchanov is ready to sell 49% of his stocks to Armenian companies. Hakim Matchanov made this statement himself in Yerevan to a press conference August 2. He assured the sell of stocks is in no way connected with far-fetched financial difficulties. "I sell stock not because I need money, I have them, but because I need guarantees that the train-ferry will function long time. Sooner or later the railways through Abkhazia and Azerbaijan will be opened and I need to be sure that even in case of reopening the railway communication between Russia and Armenia the train-ferry will function," Hakim Matchanov underlined expressing assurance that in 2-3 years Yerevan and Baku will establish relationship. At the same time Hakim Matchanov stressed despite his readiness to sell stocks, Armenian companies have not expressed desire to buy them yet.

In its part the Armenian forwarder of cargo transportation said it cannot purchase stocks of SMAT because of financial situation, since more than $10 million are necessary. "Large Armenian entrepreneurs can obtain the train-ferry, since it is profitable from the economic point of view. But because of their uncertainty in tomorrow they do not want to risk," the Armenian forwarder stated, IA Regnum reports.
