Three Armenian parties and blocs running for Yerevan City CouncilApril 10, 2017 - 12:38 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Three political forces - Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Yerkir Tsirani party and YELQ bloc - have submitted applications for participating in elections to Yerevan City Council, the Central Electoral Commission said on Sunday, April 9. The ruling RPA’s proportional list is headed by current mayor Taron Margaryan who is followed by Smbat Lputyan, Hovik Musayelyan, Astghik Gevorgyan and Ara Yernjakyan. Opposition lawmaker Nikol Pashinyan, who was recently re-elected to the National Assembly, tops the list of YELQ bloc, with Arayik Harutyunyan, Davit Khazhakyan, Anahit Bakhshyan and Ashot Atyan coming under the second to fifth numbers. MP Zaruhi Postanjyan, who announced the Yerkir Tsirani party several weeks ago, will head its list. Elections to the National Assembly were held on April 2.Based on results calculated in all the 2009 polling stations, the Republican party leads with 49.12% of votes (771 247 ballots), followed by the Tsarukyan bloc with 27.32% (428 965), YELQ with 7.77% (122 049) and the ARF Dashnaktsutyun with 6.57% (103 173).
