The Icelandic band, fronted by Jonsi, are currently in the middle of a tour of California, and playing new material from their forthcoming eighth studio album. The new cut sees Jonsi take to his guitar with a bow whilst hitting those high notes with beautiful precision. ‘Óveður' is the only properly recorded new track out so far - and that was released nearly a year ago. They're taking their time with this one for reasons unknown to us, but chances are they're just perfecting a masterpiece. Live, Sigur Rós are one of the most powerful bands around. They've pulled out all the stops on this Californian tour; the flickering light show is used to emphasise eerie quality to Jonsi's voice. Meanwhile, the experimental approach to the guitars, and other organic instruments that are used to create a completely unique sound are a magical, beguiling force.
