Armenian Military Doctrine sent to Russia, NATO and U.S. for expertise

PanARMENIAN.Net - In December 2007 the Armenian Military Doctrine will be submitted to the President for ratification, RA Defense Minister Mikael Harutyunyan during expert and public debate of the draft Doctrine at Institute of National and Strategic Studies at the Defense Ministry.



According to the schedule fixed by the President, the document was sent to Russia, NATO and U.S. for expertise.



"Till the end of October we will receive the conclusions and the then the draft will be introduced in the government. Hearings will also be held in the National Assembly and National Security Council. So, it will be submitted to the President in December," Minister Harutyunyan said.



"The Doctrine is a concept of state defense, structure, problems and aims of the Armed Forces, neutralization of military threats," he said.



"The main purport of the Military Doctrine is to fix the threats and prevent them. It also embraces trends of organizations of military security system," he added.



"The Doctrine is the guideline for all state bodies responsible for the military security system. International experience and documents of various states were used for its elaboration. We did not aim to imitate models of other states. We have developed a document that would meet our demands and peculiarities and would be comprehensible for the international community," the Defense Minister said, Novosti Armenia reports.
