CRISIS IN RELATIONS BETWEEN TURKEY AND PACE EXACERBATES
The crisis in relations between Turkey and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which had appeared due to the PACE intention to send its observers to Turkey to monitor the parliamentary elections planned November 3, notably exacerbated lately. As reported by "Arminfo" agency referring to "Turkish Daily News," the question of observers was again raised last Friday, when PACE Turkish delegation head Uluk Gurkan made a statement that Turkey did not have the intention to receive PACE observers. "Turkey is a free country, which can be visited by any person wishing, including the PACE parliamentarians. But we are against their visits with observation mission. The Turkish government is not going to officially invite them," - he said. At the same time Gurkan noted that Turkey intended to invite observers from CE and OSCE member countries to the coming parliamentary elections.
