OSCE MINSK GROUP CO-CHAIRS BROUGHT "SOME IDEAS," NOT NEW PROPOSALS TO BAKU
The OSCE Minsk group co-chairs did not bring new proposals to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict region, but "some ideas" for consideration by the Azeri leadership. Minsk group US ambassador Rudolf Perina stated it in the course of his stay in Baku. In his words, discussion of the ideas considered earlier continues aiming at finding a better way of solution. As the US diplomat noted, resumption of hostilities in the confrontation region might have grave consequences both for Armenia and Azerbaijan. Responding to the statements concerning the Minsk group being not efficient voiced periodically by the Azeri side, Perina stated, "If the parties decide to change the negotiation format, the co-chairs will treat it with understanding and respect." At the same time the diplomat expressed opinion that the current negotiation format is the most acceptable for settlement.
