'Robin Hood' release date pushed back to September 2018

PanARMENIAN.Net - Lionsgate's "Robin Hood" has been pushed back a few months.

The origin story — starring Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, Jamie Dornan, Eve Hewson and Paul Anderson — moved its wide release date in Imax from March 23 to Sept. 21, 2018. The Summit title will open opposite Sony’s family-friendly sequel "Goosebumps 2", The Hollywood Reporter says.

Otto Bathurst is directing the film, which includes Leonardo Dicaprio as a producer. It centers on Robin Hood as a crusader as he fights against corruption, long before he became a legendary outlaw.

The studio's announcement on Tuesday, August 29 also dated a few other 2018 releases, including Summit Entertainment/Codeblack Films’ Traffik for April 27. Deon Taylor directs the thriller starring Paula Patton, Omar Epps, Roselyn Sanchez and Laz Alonso. It is currently the only film set for release on that date.

Summit’s sports comedy Uncle Drew will open June 29. Charles Stone III directs the basketball movie, featuring Kyrie Irving, LilRel Howery, Shaquille O’Neal, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson, Chris Webber, Erica Ash, Lisa Leslie and Nick Kroll. It will open opposite two other comedies — STXfilms' I Feel Pretty and Warner Bros.' Tag — as well as Sony's sequel Sicario 2: Soldado.

CBS and Lionsgate's Hellfest will bow Oct. 12. Directed by Gregory Plotkin, the horror flick centers on a costumed killer who enters a seasonal horror theme park on Halloween night and begins murdering with impunity in front of crowds who believe that his actions are all part of the show. It will open opposite Universal's Neil Armstrong biopic First Man.
