3 Armenian grandmasters to fight for Chess World Cup victory in Georgia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Three Armenian grandmasters will be among the 128 players competing in the Chess World Cup 2017 set to launch in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi on September 2.

Levon Aronian, Hrant Melkumyan and Robert Hovhannisyan will compete in the tournament, with the top two finishers set to qualify for the Candidates tournament for the World Chess Championship 2018.

Aronian won the Stavanger-hosted Norway Chess tournament in June, 2017, also snatching victory at the Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz tournament two months later.
