Republic party political council member Smbat Ayvazyan detainedFebruary 24, 2008 - 15:56 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Republic party political council member Smbat Ayvazyan and his driver Vardan Kirakosyan were detained this morning when coming back from Liberty Square where the opposition's rally was held. Presently, the detained are kept in a cell of the Police building. In 1995-1999 Smbat Ayvazyan was a member of parliament. Then he chaired the Yerkrapah deputy group. In 1998-2000 he served as minister of state incomes and then he assumed the post of Republic party deputy chair. In 2003-2007 he was a member of standing parliamentary committee on state and legal issues.
