NO LIMITATIONS ON RELIGIOUS LIBERTY IN ARMENIA
There are no limitations on religious liberty in Armenia. UN resident coordinator, UNDP Resident Representative in Yerevan Joel Boutroue told this opinion to "Arminfo" agency while commenting on the political liberties and human rights record in Armenia. In his words, he has not noticed any limitations regarding persons adhering to religious beliefs, which differ from the Armenian Apostolic Church. "I have seen a mosque and a catholic cathedral in Yerevan, and this means much," - Joel Boutroue said. At the same time, continuing the topic of human rights he noted that the delay of the legislative repeal of death penalty in Armenia is a sign that democratization occurs slower than one would wish. "Nevertheless, I understand that the process is much connected with the trial on the act of terrorism in the Armenian parliament October 27," - the UN representative said.
