Iranian army's Ground Force to holding maneuver Jan 25January 25, 2019 - 10:30 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Commander of Iranian Army's Ground Force Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari announced on Thursday, January 24 that a 2-day military maneuver dubbed as 'Eghtedar-e- 97' (Authority- 97) will kick off on Friday in a wide area of Isfahan province, IRNA reports. In a press conference, General Heidari told reporters that 12,000 assault forces are to execute modern combat tactics in compliance with new structural changes in the Ground Force of the Iranian Army. In the maneuver, two changes of approach 'mobility and invasion', which had been fulfilled in the force will be assessed. General Heidari said, today the Ground Force include Rapid Reaction unit, Special Forces, Special Rapid Reaction Force, mobile invasion units and mobile armored brigades and by these structural and tactical changes, the forces will enjoy a high capability for mobility and invasion. In addition to the presence of 12,000 forces, 1,577 artillery cannons are being used in the maneuver, Heidari said. Also, a big number of helicopters with new capabilities like reconnaissance and night combat are to be used in the war game. He said all used weapons in the maneuver are domestically-made. Drone units are also used in the military drills. General Heidari said the operation will be supported by Air Force bombers. He concluded that heliborne operation will be implemented by heavy-lift Chinook helicopter and Bell-214 helicopter as well.
