French MPs "support Armenia against Azerbaijan to support right to life"

French MPs

PanARMENIAN.Net - French lawmakers have issued a statement about the escalation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, declaring that "supporting Armenia against Azerbaijan means supporting the right to life."

The statement by the representatives of all parties of the French parliament was shared by Armenian MP Vladimir Vardanyan, amid renewed violence on the border.

"Simply to condemn these clashes without blaming the perpetrators would mean saying nothing, he statement said.

"We all know that the resumption of hostilities is a direct consequence of the escalation strategy of the Azerbaijani dictator Ilham Aliyev."

The lawmakers believe that war is a convenient loophole for those who want to divert the attention of their people from "the humiliations that they themselves have imposed - trampling on fundamental freedoms, bribery and robbery."

"Օpenly promoting anti-Armenian education, the President of Azerbaijan has managed to channel the disappointment of his people to the neighboring people," the statement says.

"This new Azeri aggression, directly aimed at the territory of Armenia, shows that Nagorno-Karabakh is just an excuse for the Azeri regime."

Tankian's comments came amid renewed violence on the border between the two countries. Since the situation escalated on the border on July 12, Azerbaijan has launched three unsuccessful infiltration attempts. Since the next morning, the Azerbaijani military has been firing on the Armenian positions, also using large caliber grenade launchers and combat drones to target civilian homes in several border settlements. Four servicemen of the Armenian army have been killed, while Azerbaijan has reported 12 deaths.
