Iconic Yousuf Karsh photos up for auction at Christie'sSeptember 2, 2020 - 14:12 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Christie's has put up 15 iconic pictures taken by celebrated Canadian-Armenian photographer Yousuf Karsh for auction. Karsh – an Armenian refugee who fled to Canada – won acclaim for the dramatic black-and-white nature of his photos, but also for the way he collaborated with his subjects to capture the images. Photos of physicist Albert Einstein, artist Pablo Picasso, actress Elizabeth Taylor, 34th U.S. president Dwight D. Eisenhower, American film actress and Princess of Monaco Grace Kelly, American poets Carl Sandburg and Robert Frost, 40th U.S. president Ronald Reagan, Alsatian polymath Albert Schweitzer, French President Charles de Gaulle, English actors Charles Laughton and Boris Karloff, Spanish cellist and composer Pablo Casals, American artist Georgia O'Keefe and English artist Henry Moore are up for sale. All the pictures are signed "Y. Karsh" and were taken between 1944 and 1969.
