Armenia and Azerbaijan have ceased hostilities in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, according to Sergei Rudskoy, Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, TASS reports.

Troops from both sides have stopped fighting at the positions they were holding, Rudskoy said Wednesday, November 11.

According to him, "a peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is being brought into the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin corridor to control the implementation of agreements on the cessation of hostilities."

The Russian Defense Ministry said earlier that 400 peacekeepers have already landed in Armenia, and more than 1500 others are expected to arrive.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev have signed a deal to end the war in Karabakh. Karabakh (Artsakh) President Arayik Harutyunyan said on Tuesday that he has agreed to the deal signed by Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan.
