Pashinyan unveils 6-month roadmap to get economy back on track

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Wednesday, November 18 unveiled a road map of what his government is going to do in the next six months. Pashinyan claimed responsibility for the situation after the war in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), as well as for establishing stability and security in the country.

According to him, the government has the following to achieve by June 2021:

1. Resume the Karabakh peace process within the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship, prioritizing the status of Artsakh and the return of the people of Artsakh to their places of residence;

2. Ensure the return of the people of Artsakh to their homes and completely restore the normal life of Artsakh, repair damaged houses, apartments and infrastructure in territories controlled by Karabakh authorities;

3. Provide social guarantees for the families of fallen servicemen and civilians killed in shelling;

4. Restore residential and public infrastructure in the territory of Armenia, damaged during the hostilities;

5. Provide social guarantees, prosthetics and professional training for disabled servicemen;

6. Arrange the immediate return of prisoners of war and captured civilians, provide social guarantees for their families. Clarify the fate of the missing as soon as possible, provide social guarantees for their families;

7. Create a system of psychological rehabilitation of the people who took part in the war and the society in general;

8. Launch reforms in the Armed Forces;

9. Overcome the coronavirus outbreak and eliminate its consequences;

10. Restore the environment of economic activity.

11. Activate demographic enhancement programs.

12. Adopt a new law on amendments to the Electoral Code and parties.

13. Introduce an institute of specialized judges as the first step in establishing an anti-corruption court. Enforce the law on confiscation of illegal property.

14. Conduct regular consultations with representatives of the Armenian political and civil communities.

15. Conduct regular consultations with Armenian organizations and individuals of the Diaspora, involve them in processes mentioned above.

The Prime Minister also pledged a report on the implementation of the road map in June 2021.

Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev have signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Karabakh (Artsakh) President Arayik Harutyunyan has said he has agreed to the deal signed by Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan.
