Azeri troops enter Lachin after Karabakh forces withdraw

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Azerbaijani army entered the region of Lachin at midnight on Tuesday, December 1․

The Nagorno-Karabakh troops withdrew from the region under a trilateral statement that saw the Armenian side cede significant chunks of territory to Azerbaijan. Azeri forces had earlier entered the regions of Aghdam and Karvachar, as well as captured several other districts in the course of the war.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed the statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side is returning all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
