Luxembourg Parliament condemns Azeri aggression against Karabakh

PanARMENIAN.Net - The parliament of Luxembourg has unanimously adopted a motion on the Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression against Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) and their use of jihadist mercenaries against the Armenians, the Embassy of Yerevan in the Netherlands said in a tweet.

The motion adopted in Luxembourg says Azerbaijan launched a military offensive to seize control of Nagorno-Karabakh, in violation of the Minsk Group process and of the Madrid principles. Turkey, meanwhile, has provided military and political support to Azerbaijan in its campaign against the Armenian forces in Karabakh through the deployment of jihadist mercenaries and the provision of war equipment, the motion reads.

In the aftermath of the war and the occupation of great chunks of territory previously administered by Nagorno-Karabakh, the security and freedom of the Armenian populations of Karabakh are not guaranteed, with Azerbaijan and Turkey maintaining the bellicose rhetoric against them, the document adds.

The Chamber of Deputies called on the government of Luxembourg to demand the launch of a political process leading to a final status for Nagorno-Karabakh, and join its European partners in supporting the efforts of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.

The government was also urged to facilitate the provision humanitarian assistance to the people of Karabakh, to advocate for an independent investigation into well-documented war crimes; to ensure that the protection of Armenian monasteries, churches and monuments is guaranteed.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
