Armenia lacks competent journalists, MPs say
Armenian parliament members Ruzan Arakelyan (ARF Dashnaktsutyun) and Zaruhi Postanjyan (Heritage party) held a debate on the law On Television and Radio which passed its first reading in the National Assembly on February 26.

"People understand that they should urge media to serve public interests," Ruzan Arakelyan said. "The law has positive items, specifically the fact that members of the National TV and Radio Council will from now on occupy their posts through a competition."

However, she noted that there is a lack of competent journalists in the republic.

For her part, Zaruhi Postanjyan emphasized that all TV companies served the authorities in 2008.
