Armenia opening nature reserves for ecotourism, hiking

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia will open nature reserves for ecotourism and hiking, Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan told a press conference on Tuesday, January 26, Novosti Armenia reports.

According to him, the ministry is working on a major project for the introduction of ecotourism in the Khosrov state reserve, and ahead of the opening of the hiking season will be unveiling specific proposals for the fans of such types of tourism.

“There will be several routes in the reserve, which have already been developed, each one involving a full package of technical assistance and paid services. There will be a limit to the number of visits to minimize the impact of humans on the ecosystem,” Petrosyan said.

The minister noted that similar projects are also being created for other reserves and arboretums, including in Stepanavan, Berd and other regions, so that a single payment system operates, and tour operators can have access to the reserves for the development of ecotourism and educational tourism.
