Karabakh: Search for bodies suspended due to bad weather

Nagorno-Karabakh rescue teams will not be searching for the bodies or remains of the victims of the 44-day war on Friday, February 19 due to bad weather, Karabakh authorities report.

In the past several months, search and rescue operations have been halted several times due to ceasefire violations, mine explosions in areas controlled by Azerbaijan and adverse weather conditions.

Since November 13, the Nagorno-Karabakh rescue teams have found the bodies and remains of 1485 people, including dozens of civilians, who have failed to leave their homes when their settlements went under Azerbaijan's control.

Health authorities said in Armenia on Thursday that 3577 bodies of Armenian troops killed in action were examined between September 27 and February 13. As of January 13, the Health Ministry added, 428 bodies needed to be identified through DNA analysis.
