Karabakh govt approves Russian as an official language

PanARMENIAN.Net - The government of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) on Thursday, March 11 approved a proposal to designate the Russian language as an official language, lawmaker Metakse Hakobyan has said, according to ArmLur.am.

Members of the Artsakh parliament have proposed making amendments to the law "On language". If approved by the National Assembly, both Armenian and Russian will be the official languages of Karabakh.

The amendment to the law states that the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic encourages the publication of materials in Armenian and Russian, as well as the creation of textbooks, reference books, scientific-methodical and pop-science literature in both languages.
