Covid vaccination: Armenia puts teachers in priority group twoApril 6, 2021 - 15:51 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia is one of 20 nations listed by UNESCO as putting teachers in the second priority group, when it comes to Covid-19 vaccination. The United Nations agency has surveyed national education systems to produce a breakdown of where teachers are prioritized for vaccination. According to the survey, China, Russia, Belarus, Morocco have all put teachers in the top priority group, along with Cambodia and Vietnam. Others where teachers are prioritized in the first phase are: the Republic of Congo, Gambia, Jamaica, Qatar, Rwanda, Uganda, United Arab Emirates and the republics of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Like Armenia, 19 other countries like the United States, Uruguay, Indonesia, Germany and Spain have put teachers in priority group two too. Georgia, Armenia's northern neighbor, has not prioritized teachers at all, according to information provided by UNESCO. Armenia purchased the first batch AstraZeneca vaccines – 24,000 doses – in late March, which will be used to inoculate people aged over 65, those who have underlying health conditions, medical workers, residents and staff of elderly care centers, as well as social care center employees in the first phase of the country's vaccination program.
