  Yerevan court acquits former President, Defense Minister in March 1 case April 6, 2021 - 18:27 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A court in Yerevan on Tuesday, April 6 acquitted Armenia's ex-president Robert Kocharyan, ex-Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, former head of the General Staff and ex-CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov and former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan in the March 1 case. However, corruption trial against Kocharyan and Gevorgyan is still ongoing. Kocharyan, who was the President of Armenia in 1998–2008, was charged under Article 300.1 for overthrowing the constitutional order. The case is related to the crackdown on peaceful protesters marching against the results of the presidential election in March 2008. At the time, ten people were killed in clashes between protesters and the police, about 200 were injured.
