Financial crisis to set opposition on feet?
Economic crisis can affect Armenia's domestic situation, an Armenian MP said.

"The crisis will set opposition on feet. Political slogans will be replaced by social ones," said Armen Ashotyan, member of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia and head of the standing parliamentary committee on education and science.

He said the opposition has divided into two wings.

"Parliamentary and extraparliamentary opposition forces put an end to political manipulations," Ashotyan said. "Heritage used to serve as Levon Ter-Petrosyan's microphone in the parliament. Now, the situation has changed."

Commenting on the forthcoming election of Mayor of Yerevan, he said that if Heritage and the Armenian National Congress nominate a single candidate, they will garner some 25-30 percent of votes.
