Kazakh President offers to institute Euras as EurAsEC member states' common currency
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev offers to institute Euras as EurAsEC member states' common currency.

"Today, the EurAsEC member states stand a good chance to alleviate the crisis burden through introduction of common currency," he told an economic forum in Astana. "The new currency system will ensure lasting infrastructure investment and operative current transactions."

He insisted that introduction of EurAsEC common currency won't damage the member states' sovereignty.

"The consequences of the global financial crisis can be alleviated through joint efforts," President Nazarbayev said.

He also offered formation of a working group.
