Lavrov due in Yerevan for talks on Karabakh agreements

PanARMENIAN.Net - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will arrive in Yerevan on May 5, where meetings with the Armenian authorities are scheduled for May 6. On May 10-11, the top Russian diplomat will also pay a working visit to Baku.

According to the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, during the trips, the sides are expected to "thoroughly consider a wide range of issues of bilateral and regional cooperation, as well as interaction in the international arena." But the implementation of the agreements on Nagorno-Karabakh will be the priority topic of the talks, TASS reports.

"Priority attention will be paid to the practical aspects of the implementation of the statements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on Nagorno-Karabakh from November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021," Zakharova added.

Lavrov is actively engaged on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. On April 1, he held separate meetings in Moscow with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan Ara Aivazian and Jeyhun Bayramov. The issue was also discussed at a recent meeting between Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran.
